Shu Uemura

Shu Uemura is a renowned make-up artist in Hollywood during 1955. He pushed the concept of cosmetics in combining make-up and artistry. The merging of these two factors are streamlined into his bi-annual mode cosmetic collections and on-stage make-up.

Every Shu Uemura products adopted the concept with art, nature and science that are elaborated on its packaging, textures, ingredients and product formulations.

It was during 1964 that his skills were fully visible when he transformed Shirley Maclaine in her role as a geisha. In 1967, Uemura made its mark in the beauty industry to develop the first oil-based cleanser introduced in Japan called the “unmask cleansing oil”. He first released his mode make-up collection “flaggy” in 1968. He got his own beauty boutique in Tokyo in the Omotesando district in 1983. His big leap to the beauty industry was when he presented “the journey of life make-up show’ in Paris.

In 2005, Uemura introduce the Tokyo Lash Bar that displays yearly false eyelashes collection. With his strong desire to cater every woman’s needs, Uemura started his “Art of Hair” hair line. Presently, Shu Uemora care line enraptured 18 countries with about 320 different products.
